REPORTING TO: SIX Project Manager

LOCATION: London, UK

SALARY: £22-26k Per annum, based on experience
WORKING DAYS: Full time

Job description  

SIX is looking for someone who is passionate about networks and communication to join our growing team. We are looking for someone to work on all of our European Commission funded programmes, so that means someone who can engage and communicate with a wide variety of actors across governments, universities, innovation centres, NGOs, funders and grassroots practitioners.

This position will support the Project Manager in charge of the European projects, by carrying out a broad range of communication, dissemination, stakeholder and community management and project management tasks.

There is a particular focus on the Social Innovation Community (SIC) project. As we enter our final year of delivery of SIC, we are looking for someone who can help us shape the last year of this important project by improving our communication strategies, helping our SIC communities to really thrive, and delivering a final show-stopping event connecting several projects across Europe.

Responsibilities include

Communications- with the European Social innovation stakeholders and internal

  • Managing all social media/communications

  • Managing all EC project websites (including the SIC website) - uploading content, making the sites look great, supporting the partners, building new pages/sections

  • Developing new content for the website - this could include interviewing key people, preparing country briefs and fact sheets, writing up case studies and articles

  • Design and develop creative new communication strategies

  • Support the Project Manager to manage and communicate with consortium partners from all our EU funded projects across Europe

  • Support the Project Manager to ensure the SIX team, SIX Board and global SIX networks are up to date with European social innovation activities

Network management and events (SIC project only)

  • Assist the Project Manager in coordinating, developing and supporting all SIC networks

  • Support the Project Manager with the preparation and facilitation of external events, lectures etc

  • Support the Project Manager in the design and delivery of the final SIC event; manage all logistics and content.

Project management and administration

  • Organising and recording large pan-European meetings

  • Manage all deadlines and ensure all deliverables are prepared and submitted on time

  • Develop project/organisation briefs; contribute to the development of deliverables and project reports

  • Support the Project manager in reporting to the EC (including timesheets)

  • Booking flights and hotels

Skills

Essential:

Communication

  • Strong communicator - good with language and techniques to develop and keep up lively and informative communication channels (website, social media etc.)

  • Excellent communication and project service skills; will interact extensively with management, project partners and the SIX team.

  • Excellent written skills (ability to write in an engaging style for websites, announcements, invitations, as well as the ability to develop short briefs and case studies, and to undertake smaller research and analytical tasks).

Administration

  • Strong administrative skills and good at internal project management (keeping track of deadlines, making sure deliverables happen, organising meetings). High level of attention to detail

  • Highly skilled with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Personal

  • Creative, adaptable, intellectually curious and ability to take initiative

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a team-player but also good at taking action in expected and unexpected situations

Beneficial:

  • Previous use of Mailchimp and website management (Drupal in particular) would be beneficial but not essential

  • Ability to speak another European language

  • Design skills - knowledge of the Adobe Design Suite (InDesign, Photoshop especially)

Qualifications & Experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s is a bonus

  • Experience in social innovation, and familiarity with the voluntary, public and private sectors

  • Ability to fit into a small rapidly growing charity culture; an appreciation of the mission, vision and approach of SIX

  • Ability to communicate to various stakeholders from a variety of sectors

  • Flexibility of approach and the ability to work as a self-sufficient member of a team in a small office are essential; superior interpersonal skills in dealing with colleagues, and project partners

  • Ability and availability to travel as required

  • Experience of managing events
