Recognising that fresh insights are most often sparked by fresh minds, Space Unlimited facilitates collaboration between clients and young people to trigger innovative solutions to business challenges.
Space Unlimited facilitates collaboration between clients searching for new understanding on their business issues and challenges, and young people who see things differently, approach problems imaginatively and aren't afraid to say what they think. Based on the premise that fresh insights are most often sparked by fresh minds, Space Unlimited designs highly collaborative, structured projects that unleash the energy, candour and ideas of young people, thereby creating experiences for clients that trigger fresh thinking about their business and the changes they need to make. Clients have used the outputs of these sessions to design new services, re-energise their teams, and build stronger connections with customers and stakeholders.
Space Unlimited is thus a new way for employers and young people to help one another in building resilience and resourcefulness, and it relishes creating the space and conditions to let such collaboration flourish. Originally 800 young people and 20 clients tested the prototype to great success. Their feedback triggered a pilot project, which turned into an application for Big Lottery funding, and eventually supported the start-up of a brand new social enterprise in late 2006. Clients like Oracle, KPMG, The Scottish Government and the Royal Opera House have all commissioned the work of Space Unlimited and currently over 1000 young people have challenged their clients to leave their comfort zones and try new ways of working. The projects thus offer fresh insights about real issues whilst creating future value for society.
