Summer School - About
The aim of the summer school is to help build the growing field of social innovation – sharing practical skills on issues ranging from finance and design, and from managing incubators to public policy.
Around the world there is growing interest in the field of social and public innovation. Networks are forming, research is being carried out and new intermediaries are being set up to promote and support social innovation.
Despite this growing interest and activity around social innovation – many questions remain unanswered: how do we create the conditions which will help innovation flourish? How can we turn new ideas into practical solutions? How do we then take these solutions to scale?
The summer school is bringing together over 80 participants from all around the globe from fields as diverse as social enterprise, incubators, government, the private sector, charities and foundations to address these very issues.
There will be a combination of presentations, talks and workshops – with plenty of time for networking – in order to maximise the exchange of ideas, experiences and thoughts. We also want the event to be as participative as possible, so we’re keeping some time free for attendees to decide on the programme. We’re still accepting ideas and suggestions so if you have any particular area or topic that you want covered, let us know here.
Participants will also be able to learn from the many innovations underway in the Basque country, including within the Mondragon Group (of which MIK is a part) which is the world’s largest cooperative and social enterprise.
